I help make camp awesome. As Summer Camp Director, I oversee the day-to-day operations of Summer Camp, including programming, health and safety, dining services, custodial services, administrative aspects, and camper and staff supervision. As well as program growth and improvements during the year.
I learned of my love and devotion to MHKC when I started as a volunteer in 2000. Throughout the years, I have been in numerous positions at camp including horses, recreation, fish pond, arts and crafts, kitchen staff, Assistant Counselor Supervisor, Counselor Supervisor, Assistant Director, and Camp Director. Now as Summer Camp Director I am able to give more to camp than just my summers.
I graduated from Evergreen High School in Vancouver, WA and got my BS in Recreation Management with a Recreation Therapy emphasis at Brigham Young University-Idaho. I have worked in some life-changing positions throughout my life including Memory Care and Alzheimer’s, Behavior and Mental Health at the Portland VA Hospital, Special Olympics Coach and Unified Partner in WA, OR and ID, and most recently a Special Education Staff Assistant at the 49th Street Academy in the Evergreen School District.
Favorite camp activity: The DANCE!
Favorite camp song: On Top of Spaghetti (Penguin Style)
Favorite camp food: Pizza
My favorite thing about camp: My favorite thing about camp is when you can see the growth of campers, counselors, and staff and how everyone impacts each other. I love that when you are at camp everyone is loved and true colors shine. Camp is the place to go when you want to learn about life and how to live it.
Team Woodsy or Team Smokey? Well if I were an animal I would want to fly, so Team Woodsy for sure!!!
